Important change announced for black bag bin collections in Swansea

In Swansea, a notable change has been announced for black bag bin collections. Swansea Council has revealed a significant adjustment to the collection schedule for black bags outside homes throughout the city. Commencing on December 2, black bags will now be collected on designated ‘green weeks’, while garden waste will be picked up during ‘pink weeks’. This alteration means that black bags will now be put out alongside green bags containing glass, cans, paper, and cardboard, while garden waste will align with pink bags containing plastics.

The council expressed appreciation for the community’s increased recycling efforts, stating, “A big thank you from us for recycling more than ever. Because of this great effort, we are now updating how we collect recycling and black bag waste. We also have a brand new fleet of collection vehicles so the time is right to make this change.” Garden waste collections will be halted between December 2 and February 28, with the service suspended during the winter season.

Residents can access and download the updated collection calendar for their addresses directly from the council’s website to stay informed about the new schedule.
