A dog behaviour expert has shared his top three breeds for people with busy lifestyles. If you’re longing for a pet dog but don’t have much time to spend at home, there are some breeds that require less attention than others.
Dog training guru Will Atherton, who boasts more than 908,000 followers on TikTok where he regularly shares dog training advice, took to the social media platform to explain why three specific breeds are ideal for those with packed schedules.
Will, who owns an English Mastiff himself, described his dog as a “joy when it comes to my busy schedule”. His dog “spends half her day snoozing, the rest of the day snoring”, meaning she is only “awake and doing anything” for a tiny amount of time.
According to Will, everything he said about the English Mastiff also applies to the St. Bernard. “Between the two – simply which one do you prefer the look of,” he added.
For those who lead busy lives but want a slightly smaller dog than the two breeds above, Will suggests the English Bulldog. He noted that this breed is “slightly more tenacious” and might be a “little bit more of a challenge to train” compared to the other two. However, he added: “If you’re busy and you want a smaller dog that’s great in any environment, that’s a joy to be with, packed full of character and will happily snooze the day away while you’re gone – check out an English Bulldog.”
Will’s video went viral with more than 306,000 likes, leading many of his followers to comment and share their own experiences. One said: “I swear my St. Bernard thought he was a decorative rug 90% of the time.” While another added: “English Bulldogs are my favourite breed. They have the funniest personalities.”
