A tragic incident unfolded in Woolwich, south-east London, where a 15-year-old boy, who later died from a stabbing, pleaded for his life to be saved. A witness, who assisted the boy as he lay on the street, shared that his heartbreaking final words were, “I’m 15, don’t let me die.” The witness, a 43-year-old woman who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the harrowing scene where she tried her best to help the injured teenager outside her flat on Sunday.
The witness described how she responded to the call for help and found the boy with severe injuries. She stemmed the flow of blood until paramedics arrived, and the boy pleaded with her not to let him die. Police were alerted to a disturbance at Eglinton Road, Woolwich, around 6.30pm on Sunday, where they discovered the teenager with a stab wound. Despite efforts to save him, the boy succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The witness, a resident of the area for 14 years, shared that although she did not know the victim well, she had seen him around the neighbourhood and described him as “the most polite boy.” The local community was left shocked and saddened by the tragic incident, with one resident expressing concern for the safety of young people in the area.
Following the incident, a police cordon was put in place at Eglinton Road, with a tent and several officers present at the scene. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, extended his condolences to the boy’s family and emphasised the need to address such senseless violence in the community. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made, and a crime scene remains in place.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact of knife crime on young lives and the communities they belong to. As authorities continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, the tragic loss of this young boy has left a deep sense of sorrow and concern among residents in Woolwich.
