Hidden Gem Steak Restaurant in Haverfordwest

I recently visited a lesser-known steak restaurant tucked away in an alley amidst kebab shops. Block & Barrel, situated in Haverfordwest town center, has been on my radar for quite some time as a must-visit spot in west Wales. As a steak enthusiast, I had high expectations, and I’m pleased to report that Block & Barrel exceeded them.

The restaurant exudes a cozy yet modern ambiance that welcomes you as soon as you step inside. Regardless of whether you’re planning a romantic dinner for two or a family feast, Block & Barrel caters to all occasions. The establishment prides itself on its quality steaks, evident in the top-notch sirloin priced at £22 that I savored during my visit.

Opting for a medium-rare doneness level, I relished every bite of the perfectly cooked steak. The meat, locally sourced and expertly prepared by the in-house butchers, was bursting with robust flavors. Accompanied by creamy dauphinoise potatoes, the meal was a delightful symphony of tastes and textures.

Highlights of my dining experience at Block & Barrel:

  • The inviting and warm atmosphere upon entering
  • The high-quality, locally sourced steak
  • The perfectly cooked medium-rare sirloin
  • The creamy and flavorful dauphinoise potatoes
  • The knowledgeable and friendly service

While I indulged in the steak, my dining companions enjoyed other offerings on the menu. From lasagne cooked to perfection to a tantalizing Babylon burger, everyone at the table was impressed with their choices. To complement our meals, we shared a bottle of Shiraz from southeastern Australia, priced at £18.

Despite the excellent main courses, one downside was the absence of a dessert menu. A sweet ending to the meal would have been the cherry on top of an already delightful dining experience. Nonetheless, the overall experience at Block & Barrel left me eagerly anticipating my next visit, much like my previous experience at Pasture in Cardiff.

In conclusion, Block & Barrel in Haverfordwest is a hidden gem for steak lovers. With its exceptional cuts, cozy ambiance, and friendly service, it’s a must-visit dining destination in west Wales. If you’re a fan of steak, do yourself a favor and reserve a table at Block & Barrel for an unforgettable culinary experience.
