Huge Gavin & Stacey fan favourite returns to Barry Island

Gavin & Stacey Fan Favorite Returns to Barry Island

In a recent development, the iconic picture mural on the side of Marco’s Cafe at Barry Island has been temporarily removed. This mural, featuring the main cast members of the beloved BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, has been a popular spot for fans over the years. The mural was covered up during filming for the final episode to avoid it being seen in the background of scenes being recorded in the area. However, fans need not worry, as the mural has now been restored to its original place after filming concluded.

Filming for the highly-anticipated Christmas special of Gavin & Stacey has been in full swing, with stars James Corden, Ruth Jones, and Joanna Page spotted on the Whitmore Bay prom as shooting began. Marco’s Cafe, famous for its association with the TV show, shared that covering up the wall was necessary during filming, particularly with Ruth Jones (Nessa) shooting scenes nearby.

Despite some complaints from fans who wished to see the mural during filming, many visitors to Barry had the chance to spot the cast members and share their experiences on social media. Fans gathered on Trinity Street, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite characters and even had the opportunity to meet some of the cast, including James Corden, who graciously took selfies with fans.

The changes in Barry didn’t stop at covering the mural, as several roads were closed around Barry and Dinas Powys for filming. Locations like the Shipman house were also affected by the filming activities. James Corden expressed his joy at returning to Barry for filming, noting the overwhelming support from fans.

Additionally, a guest star, Agiant Cone, temporarily replaced the cast on the mural, adding to the excitement surrounding the show’s return. The Christmas special is expected to bring joy to fans as they eagerly await its premiere at the end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this beloved TV series!
