A huge excavator involved in a coastal defence project in Aberaeron, Wales, became submerged in the sea due to an electrical malfunction. Efforts to repair the equipment before high tide failed, leading to its submersion. Steps have been taken to prevent further damage, and discussions are underway for its recovery by Natural Resources Wales. The project includes building a rock breakwater and other flood defences. Efforts to recover the excavator are currently being planned.
