He was caught red handed on camera but got what he deserved after making a fatal mistake

A thief in Wigan, England, received his due punishment after being caught on camera during a string of daring robberies. Damien Rigby, 38, from Hindley, Wigan, faced charges of theft and criminal damage following his escapades at a bowling alley. Rigby made Superbowl UK in Golden Square Shopping Centre, Warrington, his target on multiple occasions, causing damage to arcade machines and pocketing cash in the process.

During his first theft on May 19, 2024, Rigby managed to steal £273 and damage machines worth £1,195. His bold actions were captured on CCTV again on July 15, as he used a screwdriver to pilfer £309.50 and cause £1,045 in damages to the arcade machines. Cheshire Police footage depicted Rigby nonchalantly committing the crimes, even leaving the scene with stolen coins tucked into his T-shirt.

Inspector Lee Hillyard remarked on Rigby’s audacity, highlighting his lack of concern for others while committing the offences. Hillyard stressed that Rigby’s actions were captured on CCTV, leaving him no choice but to plead guilty. Rigby was sentenced to six months in prison and was ordered to repay the stolen money and cover the damages caused to the arcade machines.

The police emphasised that Rigby’s case serves as a reminder that crime does not go unpunished. Rigby’s blatant disregard for the law and the well-being of others led to his incarceration and financial liability for his crimes. The story of Damien Rigby showcases the consequences of criminal behaviour and the importance of upholding justice in the community.

As Rigby serves his sentence and pays for his actions, the community can rest assured that justice has been served in this case of brazen thievery and vandalism. The authorities hope that Rigby’s punishment will deter others from engaging in similar criminal activities, ultimately maintaining safety and order in the local area.
