Man Caught Trying to Hide Crack Cocaine Inside Police Car
A man, Shaun Clawson, has been sentenced to six years in jail after attempting to conceal a stash of crack cocaine inside a police car near St Clears in Carmarthenshire. Clawson, 39, was arrested on suspicion of drug offences while travelling as a passenger in a Seat Leon on February 1. Officers stopped the car on the A40 and discovered Clawson with a phone, cling film wrap, and a spoon containing white powder in the footwell where he had been seated. After being arrested and placed in the police car, footage revealed Clawson removing a cling-film wrap from his trousers and dropping it on the car floor. The wrap contained approximately 48.5g of crack cocaine valued at £4,850. Three other suspects were also arrested at the scene for possession with intent to supply a class A drug, and they have been released on bail pending further investigations.
Clawson, residing in Nantucket Avenue, Milford Haven, admitted to possession with intent to supply cocaine at Swansea Crown Court on March 5. Following his guilty plea, he was sentenced to six years in prison. Detective Sergeant Vinny Barrett of Dyfed-Powys Police issued a warning to potential offenders, stating that the police force will rigorously target those involved in drug supply activities within communities and will not tolerate the distribution of illegal substances.
