So, I sauntered into ‘Got Beef‘ for lunch on Whitchurch Road, Cardiff, with a belly rumbling like chippy lane on a match day weekend.
After spending far too long looking at the menu I went for the ‘Got Beef’ burger, a 5oz Welsh beef patty piled high with pulled BBQ brisket, Frank’s buffalo sauce, nacho cheese sauce, and a crispy onion crown, all snuggled between a toasted brioche bun with a bed of shredded lettuce.
Each bite was like a symphony of savoury goodness, the succulent Welsh beef patty married well with the BBQ brisket and all complimented by the sauces (needed a few napkins) . But wait, there’s more! I had to indulge in the chilli loaded fries, just because.
The restaurant was spotless, boasting a gleaming 5 EHO score, and the staff? Polite, welcoming, and as sharp as a chef’s knife. With the sun shining, we opted to take a seat in the garden out back, soaking up those rays while we feasted.
To wash it all down, I went for a Heineken 0.0. Hey, gotta watch those calories, right?
The overall price for this tidy feed was surprisingly reasonable, especially considering today’s living costs.
Now, here’s the thing – I’m not usually one for brioche buns. Call me weird, but I prefer my buns potato-based. They just hold up better with juicy meats and saucy toppings. But even with that, the ‘Got Beef’ burger was juicy and soft in all the right places, a true treat for the taste buds.
With a place like this, it’s no wonder they’ve got such a stellar reputation. I’m already planning my next visit because there are a few more items on the menu I’m itching to try. Its well worth the hassle of finding a parking space in that area.
If you like a decent burger then what better than this welsh delight?
