A 14-year-old girl has been arrested after an incident that left an 80-year-old man in critical condition, police have confirmed. The man was reportedly attacked by a group of young people in a park, with the assault taking place around 6.30 pm on Sunday.
The victim, described as wearing a black jumper and grey jogging bottoms, sustained serious injuries from the attack. The incident occurred near the entrance of Franklin Park in Bramble Way, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire. Leicestershire Police are actively investigating the case and have urged anyone who witnessed the assault or was in the area at the time to come forward.
Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, leading the investigation, stated, “An 80-year-old man was attacked in the park, very close to the entrance with Bramble Way, last night and has suffered serious injuries as a result. We urgently need to speak to anyone who was walking in the park or in the area of Bramble Way around 6.30 pm last night.”
The arrested 14-year-old girl is currently in custody, and enquiries are ongoing.
