‘Get-rich-quick’ father and son scammed Argos out of £136,000

Father and son jailed for scamming Argos out of £136,000 by returning cheap irons with forged receipts. Paul, 62, and Dean Mathews, 40, bought discounted irons and then returned or exchanged them at stores over three years. The duo, from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, were caught in February 2024. They were arrested in May 2024, pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering, and received prison sentences.
