In an effort to turn their grief into something positive, six members of Callum’s family have decided to participate in the ABP Newport Half Marathon on April 13. Their goal is to raise funds for the charity Men’s Minds Matter, which focuses on mental health and suicide prevention—issues that have deeply affected the family as they come to terms with Callum’s disappearance.

Conor Clement, Callum’s brother, expressed the family’s motivation for running the half-marathon, stating, “We thought we could channel our grief over Callum’s disappearance into something positive – like running a half-marathon in Newport and raising money for a charity in support of our brother.” The family has already raised over £2,000 for the charity.

Conor finds solace in training near the Riverfront in Newport, where his brother was last seen physically. He shared, “It feels like I am running with Callum. It always gives me a strong connection and it’s a place where I most like to run.” As the anniversary of Callum’s disappearance approaches, the family fondly remembers his infectious smile, described as being able to light up a room.

Superintendent John Davies of Gwent Police has urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. Callum is described as having ginger hair, blue eyes, and a medium build. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a white hooded top with the hood up and carrying a black Adidas rucksack. The police are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were in the vicinity of George Street Bridge, Wharf Road, or Cardiff Road between 4:30am and 6am on March 28, 2024.

The Clement family hopes that their fundraising efforts will not only raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention but also bring them closer to uncovering the truth behind Callum’s disappearance. Conor emphasised, “If we can help one family and make a difference, then it will be worth it.” Anyone with information is urged to contact the Major Incident Public Portal, the police website, or call 101 quoting log reference 2400104022. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

As the family prepares to honour Callum’s memory through their fundraising run, the community stands in solidarity with them, offering support and encouragement in their quest for answers.
