Every university in Wales ranked in new league table

Every university in Wales has been ranked in a new league table, with Cardiff University maintaining its position as the highest-ranking university in Wales. The Times and Sunday Times Good University 2025 placed Cardiff University as the top-ranking institution in Wales but noted a slip of seven places to 32nd overall. None of the universities in Wales made it to the top 30 UK rankings this year, with Aberystwyth and Bangor also experiencing a decline in their positions.

Swansea University, ranked second in Wales, was named Welsh University of the Year 2025. The university received this prestigious title for its consistent focus on fostering career opportunities, offering a vibrant student experience along the seafront, and achieving a four-place rise in rankings year-on-year. Furthermore, Swansea University saw a significant improvement in its global standing, breaking into the top 300 QS World University Rankings with a leap of 118 places.

Cardiff Metropolitan University witnessed a double-digit increase in its ranking due to its commitment to expanding into low-carbon futures and promoting environmental sustainability. The university aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030. The rankings for Welsh universities are as follows:
