Dr Pepper Man who splashed out £30,000 on eight-pint-a-day addiction kicks habit thanks to hypnosis

A man nicknamed the ‘Dr Pepper Man’ has managed to kick his £30,000 addiction to fizzy drinks thanks to hypnosis. Tom Bowey, a father from Marlow, Buckinghamshire, used to consume 4.5 litres of Dr Pepper and Coca Cola each day, spending around £250 per month on his habit. This addiction lasted for over a decade until his boss and dentist raised concerns about the health implications and financial strain caused by his excessive consumption.

Tom’s decision to seek help came after realizing the impact his addiction was having on his health and his family. His eldest daughter started expressing a desire to drink Coke when she turned seven, mirroring her father’s habits. This prompted Tom to take action to break the cycle and set a better example for his children.

After trying unsuccessfully to quit on his own multiple times, Tom turned to hypnotherapist David Kilmurry for assistance. In just one two-hour session held over Zoom, Tom was able to completely eliminate his fizzy drink addiction. He now opts for water and weak squash instead, noticing positive changes such as weight loss and improved energy levels.

Before his hypnotherapy session, Tom experienced bloating, headaches, and struggled to sleep due to the high levels of sugar and caffeine in his system. He was also warned by his dentist about acid erosion on his teeth, a result of his sugary drink intake. Since breaking free from his addiction, Tom has lost a stone in weight and switched from size large to medium clothing.

Reflecting on his journey, Tom expressed gratitude for the hypnotherapy session that helped him overcome his addiction. He encourages others facing similar challenges to seek help and approach the process with a positive mindset. Tom’s transformation has not only improved his health but has also inspired him to plan a family trip with the money saved from his former fizzy drink habit.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist Dr Kilmurry commended Tom’s dedication to change and highlighted the potential risks associated with sugar addiction withdrawal. He praised Tom’s progress and shared his hopes for continued good health for Tom and his family. Tom’s story serves as a reminder of the power of seeking support and taking proactive steps towards breaking unhealthy habits for a better future.
