A father from Rhondda Cynon Taff in Wales has come up with a clever solution to avoid the morning rush for sunbeds at his hotel in Salou, Spain. Darral Roblyn, 46, devised a plan to reserve sunbeds without having to wake up early by throwing his towel from his balcony onto the sun loungers below. However, despite his success in claiming the beds, he was too hungover the next day to actually use them.
Roblyn shared a video of his innovative method, explaining that the hotel’s pool area only opens at 10 am, causing a mad rush among guests to secure the best spots. By utilising a trick he learned from golfing to gauge wind speed and direction, Roblyn managed to drop his towel accurately onto the desired sunbeds.
Expressing his frustration with the competitive nature of securing sunbeds, Roblyn highlighted the issue of guests leaving their towels on the beds for hours without actually using them. He believes that his approach offers a smarter way to reserve sunbeds without having to participate in the chaotic morning routine.
While Roblyn’s tactic was successful in securing prime sunbeds, he unfortunately missed out on enjoying them due to his late start the next day. Reflecting on his experience, he suggested implementing a time limit for leaving towels on sunbeds to discourage people from monopolising them all day.
Despite not being able to fully reap the benefits of his crafty hack, Roblyn felt satisfied with finding a unique workaround to the sunbed wars at the hotel. As he continues his holiday with his daughter Mia Roblyn, 15, he hopes that his experience will inspire others to think outside the box when it comes to claiming sunbeds without the need for an early morning scramble.
