Public Health Wales shows the number of Covid-19 cases and the rate of infection.
Many areas in Cardiff are now below the Welsh average as there has been a huge drop in the infection rate across the majority of the city.
In Wales the infection rate as of end of last week is down to 141 per 100,000 population at the end of last week . That is a decrease of 9.1. Is that good? Well it has not been as low as this since mid-October meaning Wales now has the current lowest coronavirus rate in the whole of the UK.
The average infection rate across Cardiff currently stands at 140.4 , which is just below the Welsh average.
This is good news as we wait until the end of the week for the Welsh Government’s decision on children up to the age of 7 being able to return back to schools on the 22nd of February which will be determined by negotiations with teaching unions. A head teachers’ union says it wants to see the scientific modelling on the impact the effect a return of pupils might have.
