A couple from Knightsbridge, Natassia, 34, and Peter, 37, are turning to the public to help name their upcoming bundle of joy. The couple could not reach an agreement on a name – Natassia preferring something fresh and original while Peter leaning towards a more traditional choice. To settle the debate without any further disagreements, they decided to seek outside help.
Natassia posted a request on Airtasker, a community marketplace for outsourcing tasks, offering £150 to the person who suggests the best name for their baby. With the baby due in mid-December and the gender a surprise, there have already been 54 suggestions, including names like Demi, Xanthi, Antonio, and Tonino.
Thrilled with the responses so far, Natassia shared, “It’s taken my mind off the stress. I’m more excited than nervous, to be honest. [This] seemed like an easy, stress-free way to solve the debate.” The couple, who have a two-year-old daughter named Yianna, plan to involve her in the final decision-making process.
Having used Airtasker for various household tasks in the past, Peter initially had reservations about a stranger picking their child’s name. However, they devised a plan to make the process more personal – selecting three boy and girl names, placing them in a hat, and letting Yianna pick one out.
Although open to suggestions, Natassia and Peter have ruled out the name George due to personal reasons. In her post, Natassia requested, “If you’ve got a flair for picking baby names that make grandparents smile, but still have a touch of cool – please help us out!”
Candidates vying for the £150 prize have shared their qualifications, such as Aakarsha with a background in Psychology, Dan recounting personal experiences in naming children, and Uzoma offering to help find a compromise between the couple’s preferences.
The couple remains excited about the naming process and grateful for the creative suggestions they have received. This unconventional approach has brought a sense of fun and excitement to what can often be a daunting decision for many parents.
This story of Natassia and Peter’s unique quest for their baby’s name serves as a heartwarming reminder of the joy and creativity that community involvement can bring to important life events.
