Changes are being introduced to bus services in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot starting from September 1. First Cymru has announced updates to its network for next month to enhance the reliability of bus services.
Some of the key changes include the extension of service 2A in Swansea to provide an hourly Sunday service to Newton, while in Neath Port Talbot, service X3 will be extended to Sunnycroft Roundabout via Dinas Baglan Road, restoring a service to the Baglan area. Additionally, there will be more evening journeys on service four to support NHS staff at shift end times.
Other adjustments include changes to timetables for services 12 and 13, additional journeys on services 25, 111, and 31, with service 31 offering improved transportation for schoolchildren. Further changes will see service 33 school-day journeys provided by service 31 and an extra stop added to service 964 to assist students at Gower College Swansea.
In Swansea, service X6 will provide a quicker route to Swansea Valley by bypassing some stops in Plasmarl, with service 14’s timetable altered to remove under-used stops for enhanced reliability. In Neath Port Talbot, additional evening journeys will be available on services 87 and X1 between Bridgend and Port Talbot, with the X1 also incorporating Westlands housing estate in Port Talbot in its route.
First Cymru advises customers to review timetables before travelling to prepare for the September 1 changes. For more details on all these changes, including detailed timetables, visit the First Cymru website.
Rob Pymm, Commercial Director for First Cymru, expressed enthusiasm for the enhancements, highlighting the restoration and extension of routes, additional journeys, and improved reliability in services. With these improvements and the convenience of tap on, tap off technology on all Cymru services, bus travel is becoming more accessible and encourages increased usage.
