Police have launched an appeal following carjacking incident on Western Avenue, Llandaff, Cardiff
An appeal has been launched by South Wales police after a carjacking in Llandaff, Cardiff occurred as they waited at a set of traffic lights in morning rush hour.
According to South Wales Police, an unknown man got into the commuter’s silver Mitsubishi Outlander through the passenger door as he was driving on Western Avenue near Insole Grove East in Llandaff at about 7.50am on May 23rd (Monday)

The carjacker then ordered the 49 year old owner of the vehicle, to drive to Ely Road, Llandaff where he forced him to exit the vehicle.
The suspect drove off with the victim’s car, mobile phone with case/wallet which were later found.
The car was found abandoned on Radyr Court Road, and the phone was found nearby, with a bank card missing from it. No money has been stolen, according to police.
South Wales police are investigating this robbery and have said that both the car and the phone have been seized for forensic examination.
Detective Sergeant Gregory Burns said: “These kinds of incidents are extremely rare and extensive CCTV enquiries are being carried out to track the movements of the car and identify the suspect.”
South Wales police force are appealing for anyone in the area who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward by contacting them directly quoting occurrence *171362, by calling 101 or reporting .
