A local homecare provider has honoured its workforce for their outstanding contributions to caring in the community.

Right at Home Cardiff & Newport hosted its second annual awards ceremony at its office in St Mellons last week, gathering its team of CareGivers to celebrate their achievements.

Kamrul Islam won the CareGiver of the Year Award. Kam had this to say about his win,

“I am grateful for this award; I don’t know what I have done to deserve this award but I am extremely grateful. Right at Home has been a family to myself and supported me and encouraged me when I need it.”

CareGiver Jude Ahatou picked up the Care Star Award for Newport after being nominated for his care by other members in the community. A client who does not want to be named –

she said: “He is absolutely brilliant, a kind gentleman – he often comes into my home and has lovely chats with my husband. Recently the nights have been quite difficult, so I am rather tired. However, I completely trust Jude with my husband, and often will go back to bed when he is visiting. He gives me a break and time to relax.”

Joe Guishard, Owner of Right at Home Cardiff & Newport, which provides care and support for older adults in their own homes, said he was proud to honour his workforce and pay tribute to their “outstanding efforts”.

He commented: “Staff wellbeing and recognition is one of our goals and achievements as a company, especially when times are tough. We strive to create a supportive environment for our CareGivers to grow into the brilliant carers we know they are.

“With ongoing support and continuous areas to grow, we really want everyone to know how outstanding the quality of care we provide truly is. Well done to all our CareGivers.”

Other award winners include Ram Annapureddy, who won the Care Star Award for Cardiff; Tania Wighman and Asha Shangouli, who took home the Newcomer of the Year Awards for Cardiff and Newport respectively; and Ian Crowther, who won the Outstanding Contribution Award.

Commenting on Ian’s special recognition, Joe said: “Ian recently went through some health issues and has shown all of us how dedicated and strong he really is. We would not be here without him. Thank you, Ian, not only for your outstanding contribution to Right at Home, but the whole social care sector.”
