Beloved Cardiff Teacher Passes Away at 24

Emily was discovered at home by her boyfriend after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. Her partner, Jack Weston, shared with Wales Online that Emily had just secured her first permanent teaching position and the couple was settling into their life in Pontcanna, Cardiff. They had plans to take the next step in their relationship by getting engaged, but tragically, Emily’s life was cut short in December when Jack found her after she suffered a cardiac arrest in her sleep.
Jack fondly remembers the vibrant and carefree personality that Emily possessed. He recalled their first meeting at Cardiff University’s student union in late 2017, where Emily’s distinctive character immediately caught his attention. Despite her stunning looks, it was her infectious smile and ability to make everyone around her feel special that Jack misses the most. Emily originally hailed from Midsomer Norton, Somerset, and moved to Cardiff to pursue a degree in criminology. It was during her time at university that she crossed paths with Jack, who was completing his medical degree.
Their relationship blossomed, and after overcoming initial hesitation, Emily and Jack officially became a couple on May 16, 2018. With a shared passion for education, Emily went on to excel in her studies, earning a first-class degree in criminology and a master’s in psychology. The couple took the next step in their relationship by moving in together in Pontcanna in 2023. Emily’s natural affinity for children and her interest in educational psychology led her to embark on a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) to fulfil her dream of becoming a primary school teacher.

Despite facing stiff competition and undergoing multiple interviews, Emily’s unwavering commitment paid off when she was offered a permanent role at the school.
