Cardiff Half Marathon: The Met Office weather forecast every runner will need to know

Weather forecast for Cardiff Half Marathon runners
As thousands prepare to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon, the Met Office has released the essential weather forecast runners need to know. The aftermath of Hurricane Kirk is looming, but the UK weather is not expected to be affected until later next week. For the marathon in Cardiff, the forecast predicts cloudy skies with a possibility of light rain or showers as participants hit the streets. Senior meteorologist Derek Brockway provided more details, stating, “Taking part in the Cardiff half marathon on Sunday? Mostly cloudy. Chance of light rain or a shower. Heavier rain arriving during the afternoon. Light winds. 14C rising to 17C.”

In other parts of Wales, Sunday will feel humid with rain clearing eastwards in the morning, followed by heavy showers. The upcoming week is anticipated to remain unsettled with a mix of sunshine and showers, occasionally leading to heavy and thundery conditions. A massive 27,500 runners are expected to participate in the event, with thousands of spectators heading to Cardiff on October 6 for Wales’ largest mass-participation event. Road closures will be in place from October 2 to October 7 to facilitate setup and dismantling of the race village at the Civic Centre. Additionally, the bus gate in Westgate Street will be suspended from 8.30am to 3.10pm on Sunday. For more information on road closures and event details, visit the event’s official website.

As participants gear up for the upcoming Cardiff Half Marathon, being aware of the weather conditions is crucial for planning and performance optimization. Stay tuned for further updates on the event and any changes that may impact the runners’ experience.
