In response to the growing concern over the affordability of takeaways, supermarket chain Asda has introduced a budget-friendly alternative. Asda launched a pizza pop-up outside a national pizza takeaway outlet in Glasgow, offering a meal deal for two priced at just £5.98. Adam Forster, Asda’s Pizza Counter buying manager, emphasized the importance of providing a takeaway experience without the hefty price tag, especially in light of rising living costs and tighter household budgets.

Forster noted that customers are becoming more selective about when and how they order takeaways, opting to save them for special occasions or sharing the cost with friends and family. While the love for takeaways remains unchanged, people are adapting their habits to ensure that they can still enjoy these treats within their budget. The food industry is paying close attention to customers’ needs for affordability, with businesses like Asda stepping up to offer cost-effective options for takeaway enthusiasts.

The survey findings highlight a shifting trend in takeaway consumption, reflecting consumers’ desire for value for money in their food choices. As individuals navigate economic challenges, the appeal of affordable takeaway options becomes increasingly significant. By catering to these needs, supermarkets like Asda are demonstrating their responsiveness to consumer preferences and offering viable solutions to help people enjoy their favourite meals without breaking the bank.
