Brits more ‘comfortable at home’ and would rather opt to stay in than go out

Brits are choosing to stay in the comfort of their own homes rather than going out, according to a recent study. The survey found that 66 per cent of Brits feel more at ease at home, with 53 per cent describing it as a more peaceful environment compared to going out. Additionally, 48 per cent enjoy the opportunity to fully unwind in the comfort of their own space.

The recipe for the ‘perfect night in’ involves arriving home at 5.30pm, having plenty of snacks on hand, and putting your feet up by 6.42pm. A study of 2,000 adults revealed that 55 per cent of respondents’ first step towards the perfect night in is changing into something more comfortable. For 29 per cent, creating the right ambiance with candles and soothing music is essential, while 13 per cent take the opportunity to finish a video game they’ve been playing for months.

The research was commissioned by Timotei for its podcast series ‘A Gentle Start: The Showercast’, designed to be enjoyed during a 10-minute shower. Cleo Hector from the haircare brand noted that as the colder months approach, many Brits are keen on slowing down and prioritising self-care and wellness routines.

On the flip side, 45 per cent of respondents stated that they would choose to have their perfect night in with family. Additionally, 35 per cent feel a greater need for self-care as the clocks go back, while 15 per cent are embracing gentle living as a wellness trend to manage modern pressures by being kind, calm, and soft towards oneself.

Cleo Hector highlighted the pleasures of taking a bath or shower as a simple pleasure and mentioned that their podcast aims to provide a space where listeners can unwind and learn about gentle living from inspirational women like Laura Whitmore and Martine McCutcheon.

Overall, the study reflects a growing trend among Brits to prioritise relaxation and self-care within the comfort of their own homes. Enjoying a peaceful night in has become a preferred choice for many, with individuals actively seeking moments of quiet and tranquillity in the midst of busy modern lifestyles.
