Britons Value the Role of ‘Mum’ at an £80,000 Annual Salary

If the role of a mother were to be advertised as a job, seven out of ten individuals admit they would struggle to grasp its full extent based solely on the job description. Britons value the role of ‘mum’ by estimating that it warrants an annual salary exceeding £83,500, reflecting the wide array of skills involved. As Mother’s Day approaches, presenting a perfect opportunity to express gratitude, 75 per cent of Brits see it as an ideal occasion to show love and appreciation. However, over a third of individuals confess that they do not convey their feelings to their mothers frequently enough, with 17 per cent admitting to minimal effort on Mother’s Day celebrations.
When it comes to showing appreciation, 69 per cent believe that a gift is sufficient, while 55 per cent favour a heartfelt card. Nonetheless, a notable 16 per cent still consider a last-minute box of chocolates and a petrol station card to be acceptable, and 19 per cent admit to previously skimping on efforts. The survey also revealed the top 20 skills that Britons think should be included on a ‘mum CV,’ including proficiency in multitasking under pressure, providing emotional support, managing household schedules, handling toddler tantrums, and expertise in stain removal.
