Body found in search for missing teenager

A body has been found after days of extensive searching for a 17-year-old who went missing near the Menai Strait between Gwynedd and Ynys Mon. The teen had been missing since Friday, September 20. Police were informed someone had entered the water near the suspension bridge just before 9.45am.

A statement from North Wales Police reads: “A body has sadly been discovered in the area of the Menai Strait following extensive searches for a missing 17-year-old.” Superintendent Simon Barrasford said: “My thoughts are with the family and our officers continue to provide support to them at this incredibly difficult time. I would like to thank the community for their support during the searches.”

The RNLI, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, and the Aeronautical Rescue Co-Ordination Centre had all been involved. North Wales Live also said it had been reported on social media that family and friends had also been helping in the search along the shore for the missing person, believed to be a local teenage boy, but who has not been publicly identified by the police.
