Captain states quad to blame after Harris was sacked and quickly replaced by Mick McCarthy last week.
McCarthy’s “personality and aura” Defender Morrison believes, can bring the best out of a squad he accepts underperformed to Harris’ detriment.
“We’ve been too inconsistent and that’s ended with Neil losing his job,” Morrison said.
“We haven’t been good enough and ultimately that comes down to the players.”
Harris was sacked after six progressive defeats with Cardiff, play-off semi-finalists last season, fifteenth in the table and closer in focuses to the bottom three than the best six.
In October the club was warned by chairman Mehmet Dalman there would be disappointed if they were not in the play-offs by January.
Harris, unable to deliver that target saw his 14-month stint with Cardiff end abruptly, with Morrison admitting players had to take some responsibility on this demise.
“I think especially as captain to know the team’s under achieving,” .
“We’ve been way too inconsistent. We’ve had little spells where we’ve played okay and got a run of results but over the course of the first half of the season we really haven’t been good enough and that comes down to the people on the pitch.
“Managers and staff can get us ready but if we’re not going to do it once we cross that white line it’s our fault – all we can do is pick ourselves up and move on.”
Harris’ end came after a final defeat 0-1 to QPR
The bosses at Cardiff apparently made the decision after cocerns about being involved in a relegation fight so made the switch to the well experienced Sunderland, Ipswich and Wolves manager McCarthy
The quad including captain is confident that relegation wont be an issue as McCarthy now takes the reigns of the squad although some supporters and officials have their doubts. The confidence and lifted spirits the team will get from McCarthy will move very quickly from his personality, he knows how to get the best from players and many in the CCFC think they are very lucky to have him.
McCarthy’s first game as head coach begins away at Barnsley on Wednesday, understanding they all have a lot of catching up to do in the playoffs.
