Barney Walsh slammed as ‘arrogant’ in court after doing 95mph on M4

Barney Walsh, known for his roles in ‘Casualty’ and as co-host of ‘Gladiators’ alongside his father Bradley, found himself in hot water after being caught speeding at a whopping 95mph on the M4. The son of TV star Bradley Walsh was handed a £1,000 fine and accumulated five penalty points on his driving licence after the incident near Swindon, Wiltshire, in March. While Barney intended to plead guilty, his defence team disputed claims by police that he was driving at 97mph.

During the hearing at Swindon Magistrates Court, presiding magistrate Mark Baker criticized Barney for not attending the court session himself, calling his absence “a little bit arrogant.” Despite not being physically present due to prior filming commitments, the court accepted his guilty plea and imposed the fine along with additional court costs of £490. The magistrate showed leniency by reducing the potential £2,500 fine to £1,000.

Prosecutor Anna Hughes detailed how Wiltshire Police observed Barney speeding past a speed camera in his Mercedes GLC 300. The soap star’s legal team argued that he believed he was driving between 93mph and 95mph. This incident marks a brush with the law for Barney, who is also known for his appearances on shows like ‘Breaking Dad’, ‘Doctors’, and ‘Death in Paradise’. His role as Cameron in ‘Casualty’ and co-hosting ‘Gladiators’ showcase his versatility in the entertainment industry.

Barney Walsh’s fans may be surprised by this legal issue, but it serves as a reminder that even celebrities are not above the law when it comes to road safety. Despite his fame and success in the entertainment world, Barney has faced consequences for his actions behind the wheel. As he settles his fine and additional penalty points, it is a lesson for all drivers to adhere to speed limits and drive responsibly on the roads.
