A baby in a pram was struck by a missile in Caernarfon, Wales, amidst reports of youths as young as nine causing chaos in the town centre. Fortunately, the baby was not injured, but a police officer warned that the situation could have had a much worse outcome. Police have now identified 14 suspects they want to speak to in connection with the incidents and have urged parents to address their children’s behaviour.
A statement from North Wales Police Gwynedd North highlighted that the disruptive behaviour, including throwing items that resulted in damaged vehicles and the baby being hit, is having a severe impact on residents and endangering community members. PC Jordan Jones of the Neighbourhood Policing Team stressed the need for parental intervention and support to prevent further escalation of such incidents.
The police are planning to visit the homes of the identified youths, aged between 9 to 15 years, to engage with their families and collaborate with partner agencies. While criminalising young people is a last resort, formal action may be required if the anti-social behaviour persists. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information or footage related to anti-social behaviour in the area, particularly near A4085 near Segontium.
Residents are encouraged to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour in the Caernarfon area to the police through their website, by calling 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers. The community is reminded of the importance of addressing and curbing such behaviour to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the town.
