Attempted dog theft at knife point, in East Cardiff

South Wales Police are currently looking for any information after three armed men allegedly try to steal a man’s dog at knifepoint in Cardiff.

According to officers, one of the men who fled the scene ended up covered in the contents of the victim’s dog poo bag.

A 30-year-old who was out waking his two dogs near the River Rhymney, was approached three men, – one armed with a craft knife and tried to steal his Labrador. He suffered facial injury’s and concussion but is home with both of his dogs safe and well.

A passerby stopped to help and contacted South Wales Police

The location of this incident happened just before 12.45pm on Thursday, February 25 2021 on the trail that runs between Eastern Avenue and the Rumney River near Pentwyn.

South Wales Police detectives are appealing for information:

It is believed the suspects walked through Pentwyn and Llanrumney before and after the attempt robbery.

Anyone who may have seen the men, or have either dash-cam or CCTV footage, is asked to please contact us.

The suspects are described as follows.

Suspect one: White, early 20s, six foot two tall, slim build, dark hair with a centre parting, little bit of a beard on his chin which was fair in colour, wearing jeans and a white sweatshirt.

Suspect two: White, early to mid-20s, five foot 10 tall, slim build, fair hair brushed back, wearing a black tracksuit.

Suspect three: White, mid to late 20s, five foot 10 tall, stocky build.
