An ‘iconic’ Welsh nightclub has been put up for sale

An iconic Welsh nightclub, ATIK in Wrexham, has been put up for sale with a price tag of £450,000. The nightclub closed its doors earlier this year after its owner, Rekom UK, went into administration and returned the lease to the city center establishment. This led to staff redundancies, marking the end of an era for the largest nightclub in North Wales.

The closure of ATIK was attributed to the cost-of-living crisis affecting the younger generation and rising business expenses. The venue’s sale is now being managed by Christie and Co, describing the location as prominent on Brook Street, situated near key intersections in the city’s licensed and late-night circuit. The listing includes all fixtures and fittings, with some exceptions for items owned by third parties or personal to the clients.

Christie and Co stated that the property comes with immediate vacant possession and is suitable for late-night hospitality or alternative use, subject to planning permissions. The leasehold is long-term, running for 999 years from October 2006 with a nominal rent set. Interested buyers have the opportunity to acquire this significant entertainment venue in Wrexham.

The Welsh community reflects on the closure of ATIK, lamenting the loss of a landmark venue that contributed to the city’s nightlife scene. The nightclub’s presence on Brook Street held historical significance for locals and visitors alike. As potential buyers consider the future of this iconic establishment, the hope remains that its legacy will endure through new ownership and revitalization plans.
