Amazon to hire more than 15,000 staff for festive season

Online retail giant Amazon has revealed plans to hire over 15,000 staff members to support its operations during the upcoming busy festive season. These positions will be spread out across Amazon’s network of centres and delivery stations throughout the UK. The company has announced that the pay for these roles will start at a minimum of £13.50 per hour, with the possibility of rising to £14.50 depending on the specific location.

Anil Verma, Amazon’s Operations Director, expressed the company’s readiness for the festive period, stating, “We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we’re excited to have more than 15,000 positions available this year in the UK.” Verma highlighted the crucial role that seasonal colleagues play in ensuring an exceptional experience for Amazon’s customers. He also welcomed both returning seasonal workers and new recruits to join the team for the upcoming season.

In addition to the seasonal positions, Amazon has announced the commencement of operations at its latest fulfilment centre in Eastwood, Nottingham. This facility will offer a range of job opportunities, including roles for engineers, HR and IT professionals, health & safety and finance specialists, operations managers, as well as staff responsible for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders. Regional Director Prashant Pandey emphasised the significance of this new fulfilment centre in the East Midlands region as a reflection of Amazon’s commitment to the local communities.

Amazon’s decision to increase hiring for the festive season comes amid a surge in online shopping and delivery demands, as more customers opt for the convenience of e-commerce. The move is expected to not only support Amazon’s operational efficiency during the busiest shopping period of the year but also provide job opportunities for individuals across the country.

The company’s efforts to expand its workforce align with its continuous growth and commitment to meeting customer expectations for fast and reliable delivery services. As Amazon gears up for the festive rush, the recruitment drive for over 15,000 seasonal staff members stands as a testament to the company’s dedication to delivering a seamless shopping experience for customers throughout the UK.
