Several Welsh cafes, restaurants, and takeaways have been recognised in the prestigious Good Food Awards for 2024/25. The Good Food Awards celebrate a variety of establishments including restaurants, bistros, cafés, coffee houses, gastro-pubs, sandwich shops, and takeaways across Wales. A spokesperson for the awards highlighted the importance of customer opinions in determining the winners, with accolades like the Blue Ribbon and Gold Seal awarded to establishments that demonstrate exceptional food quality, service, and value.
In the category of Cafes, a number of establishments were honoured in this year’s awards. Winners of the Gold Seal included the Old School House in Oswestry and Harrys Sandwiches & Coffee Bar in Abergavenny. Among the Blue Ribbon recipients were places like Bakery Treat Boxes in Cardiff, Sip Cafe & Kitchen in Colwyn Bay, and Seaview Cafe Bistro & Coffee Lounge in Porthmadog.
Moving on to the Restaurants category, several venues were recognised for their outstanding offerings. Gold Seal winners included The Boat House in Saundersfoot, Isabella’s Restaurant in Porthcawl, and Bistro Bermo in Barmouth, among others. Restaurants like Lois Cupcakes in Bethesda, The Swigg Unit in Swansea, and Lokky’s at The Imperial Dragon Hotel in Saundersfoot received Blue Ribbon awards.
In the Takeaways category, notable mentions included Royal Balti in Barry, Zeera Indian Takeaway in Pontyclun, and Fat Freddies in Haverfordwest. These establishments were recognised for their commitment to delivering quality takeaway options to their customers.
Gastro Pubs also had their moment in the spotlight, with JT Abergwaun in Fishguard and The Ferry Inn in St Dogmaels receiving Gold Seal honours. The Boathouse in Shrewsbury, Jolly Colliers Inn in Abergavenny, and The Black Rabbit in Bridgend were among the establishments awarded the Blue Ribbon.
Fish and Chips fanatics had plenty to celebrate as well, with Penaluna’s Famous Fish & Chips in Hirwaun and West End Cafe Fish and Chips in Carmarthen earning Gold Seal awards. Blue Ribbon winners included establishments like Les & Rita’s Fish Bar in Rhyl, Migels Fish Bar in Llanelli, and D Fecci and Sons in Tenby.
Lastly, Hotels were also acknowledged for their excellence, with Lauriston Court Hotel in Llandudno receiving a Gold Seal, and The Imperial Dragon Hotel in Saundersfoot being awarded the Blue Ribbon.
