A couple from Northamptonshire, Rachel Pishhorn and Tom Jolley, have managed to save nearly £2,000 on their wedding day by opting for a unique approach – heading to their favourite supermarket, Aldi. The thrifty pair decided to use flowers from Aldi to create their own wedding bouquets and decorations, showcasing their creative skills in the process. By utilising Aldi’s budget-friendly flower options, such as the Beautiful Blooms Large Mixed Bouquets for £5.99, alongside Carnations and Chrysanthemums, they were able to craft eight bridesmaids’ bouquets and a personalised bouquet for the bride. With additional flowers like Alstroemeria and the Rose Duo Bouquet, they also adorned their wedding tables with beautiful floral arrangements. Furthermore, they even made their own wedding confetti from dried petals, further emphasising their cost-effective wedding planning.
Rachel, a teacher from Weldon, expressed her delight at the outcome, stating, “We were shocked to find out how much it cost to get married, and there are so many little things like flowers which can cost thousands. Aldi is our favourite supermarket, and I regularly buy bouquets there, so I thought why not get our wedding flowers from Aldi too?” Impressed with the quality and affordability of the flowers, Rachel reached out to Aldi to express her gratitude after spending just £200 on the floral arrangements. Hearing about the couple’s special day and their fondness for Aldi, the supermarket decided to surprise Rachel and Tom by covering the cost of the flowers as a wedding gift.
Julie Ashfield, the Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing high-quality products at affordable prices and shared, “It’s always wonderful to hear how we’re saving our customers money, and when we heard Rachel and Tom’s story, we knew we wanted to do something special for their big day and share a special Aldi wedding gift!” This heartwarming story showcases how a couple’s ingenuity and a supermarket’s generosity culminated in a magical and budget-friendly wedding celebration.
Aldi’s flower supplier, JZ Flowers, has been providing fresh flowers to the supermarket since 1995, further underscoring the longstanding partnership between the two companies. This heartwarming tale not only illustrates the power of creativity and resourcefulness in wedding planning but also highlights the positive impact businesses can have on their customers’ special occasions.
