Airlines with the worst plane food ranked as one serves ‘world’s best meals’ – Wales Online ✈️
The best airline in the world for plane food has been named – and it’s not a name you might have expected. Plane grub often gets a bad rap, typically associated with dry, microwaved meals that are barely recognisable. Yet some carriers break the mould, dishing up gourmet offerings for those in the know.
No sky-high dining experience can truly match restaurant quality, of course. As we ascend and cabin humidity falls, our taste and smell senses diminish too. The reduced cabin pressure doesn’t help, numbing our taste buds and rendering flavours dull. Moreover, stringent food safety regulations mean all inflight meals must be pre-cooked, swiftly cooled, stored cold, and then only reheated in-flight. Thus, even the finest Michelin-starred dish might suffer a little when served above the clouds.
However, for discerning travellers with a penchant for fine dining, hope is not lost. Certain airlines have garnered acclaim for their superior culinary offerings, reports the Express. Kuwait Airways emerges at the summit of this global ranking, acclaimed for serving the highest-calibre meals imaginable, with an impressive average rating of 8.6 out of 10 across its cabins. A “Royal Class” service from Kuwait Airways features decadent choices like lobster, prawn, and various beef dishes, along with multiple courses even for economy passengers.
Rounding off the top five are Oman Air, Middle East Airlines MEA, Air Algerie, and airBALTIC, each earning plaudits for their in-flight fare. Virgin Atlantic and British Airways have been rated the highest among frequent flyers from the UK, both scoring 6.7. Budget airlines such as Ryanair and EasyJet, which do not provide meals on flights unless passengers pay extra, did not feature on the list.
However, passengers can bring snacks from the airport for consumption during these flights but must ensure they dispose of any leftovers before security at their destination to avoid potential fines for undeclared food items.
