Gower Seafood Deli, known for being one of the top places to dine in Swansea, has expanded its operations with the opening of a permanent shop. The seafood hut, a familiar sight in the Mumbles area during the summer months since its establishment in 2017, has now set up a year-round shop at 618 Mumbles Road. Owned by Chris Price and Sarah Kift, the deli will offer a different experience compared to the seasonal horsebox setup. While the seafood hut operates from March to September, the new deli will feature a range of deli-style cold seafood sandwiches, salads, and various tinned and canned seafood products like cockles and laverbread. Additionally, the shop will sell speciality tinned fish, olives, balsamic vinegar, and olive oils. It will also showcase artwork by Sarah Kift, including tea towels, cushions, and painted tins with a seaside theme. The owners aim to provide a complementary experience to their existing seafood hut, offering a variety of deli items and seafood options throughout the year. In an interview, Mr. Price explained that the decision to open the deli came from the need for a dedicated prep space during the off-season. While the deli will focus on cold food options like crab and prawn sandwiches, seafood salads, and tapas, the seafood hut will continue to serve hot fried seafood dishes during its operational months. The couple has expressed optimism about the new venture, noting that the expanded space allows for more menu options and a chance to cater to a wider audience.
