Person dies after being hit by train in Bridgend

A tragic incident occurred in Bridgend as a person lost their life after being hit by a train near a Welsh railway station. Emergency services, including officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics, responded to the scene late on Saturday night, close to Wildmill station. BTP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for BTP stated, “We were called to an area of the line close to Wildmill station at around 11.15 pm on Saturday, September 14, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers and paramedics attended, but unfortunately, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are diligently working to determine the full details of the person’s passing.”

In a separate but related incident earlier on the same day, another individual sustained “life-changing” injuries after also being struck by a train, this time in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The railway lines between Penrhiwceiber and Aberdare had to be temporarily closed between 5 pm and 7 pm to allow emergency services to carry out necessary work following the incident.

These tragic events serve as a sobering reminder of the dangers posed by railway tracks and the importance of vigilance near train stations and lines. Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious and alert when in the vicinity of railways to prevent such heartbreaking incidents from reoccurring.

As investigations continue into both incidents, our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by these tragic events. The safety of individuals near railway tracks remains a top priority, and authorities are working diligently to ensure the well-being and security of all individuals in the community.
