The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k 2024 event showcased thrilling moments as more than 4,100 participants took part, creating an electrifying atmosphere on Sunday morning. The 43rd edition of the race attracted runners and supporters as early as 8.30am. The main race route took runners from the recreation ground to Mumbles and back along the Promenade, offering picturesque views and challenging terrain.
In an impressive display of athletic prowess, Dewi Griffiths clinched victory in the main men’s race, recording a commendable time of 28 minutes and 22 seconds. Calli Thackery achieved a new course record by winning the main women’s race in 31 minutes and 58 seconds, while Owain Terrell secured first place in the 10k wheelchair race with a time of 31 minutes and 5 seconds. Additionally, junior races of 1k and 3k were held, along with a mascot race that raised £100 for charity.
The event village buzzed with excitement, offering a variety of food, drink, and entertainment options for both participants and spectators. More than 4,100 individuals took part in the prestigious event, further establishing it as a staple in Swansea’s annual events calendar. Councillor Robert Francis-Davies commended the event’s success and the continuous support received from loyal participants and the local community, emphasising the race’s significance in Swansea.
The event’s popularity was evident as runners returned year after year, with some now participating alongside their children and grandchildren. The uplifting and family-friendly atmosphere contributed to the event’s success, with plans already underway for next year’s race on September 14.
