Mum-of-two Battles Terminal Cancer Diagnosis at 38 After Screening
A heartbreaking story unfolds as Kellie Haury, a 38-year-old mother of two, faced devastating news following a routine screening. Diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2020, Kellie underwent chemotherapy but had to stop due to an allergic reaction. She achieved remission and went back to working at a local pharmacy, cherishing moments with her family – husband, Dillon, 19, and Lewis, 17. However, the cancer relapsed, spreading to her chest wall, lymph nodes, spine, and brain. With six brain tumors, Kellie recently learned her cancer is terminal.
A close friend of Kellie’s, Lynsey Bate, shared how Kellie was shocked by the news and is now unable to drive, which has been a significant loss of independence for her. Lynsey described Kellie as a hardworking and independent person, undergoing pain and discomfort from the cancer’s effects.
Lynsey initiated a fundraising effort to support Kellie in enjoying her remaining time with loved ones without financial worries. A fundraising event was held at the Junction Inn in St Helens, featuring a raffle and live music. Additionally, a GoFundMe page was created to gather donations for Kellie’s cause.
The community has rallied around Kellie during this difficult time, showing support and solidarity in her battle against terminal cancer. The strength and resilience displayed by Kellie and her loved ones serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of coming together to provide comfort and assistance in times of need.
