Cardiff Bus announces all buses timetables to change due to Covid.

Cardiff Bus will be adopting Saturday timetables across its services throughout the rest of January due to covid pressures.

The change was been announced Wednesday because of the current pressures of the coronavirus pandemic and increasing levels of sickness and self-isolation amongst staff..

From Monday, January 10, Saturday timetables will be in place across its weekday services.

Commercial Director at Cardiff Bus Gareth Stevens told Wales online: “We sincerely apologies for any inconvenience these service changes may cause and as an organisation we would like to express our thanks to all of our customers for your patience and understanding as we endeavor to cope with these circumstances which are beyond our control.

“Like many other organisations, we continue to feel the impact of the Omicron strain of Covid-19, which when added to the national shortage of bus drivers, means that unfortunately considerable pressure has been placed on our ability to deliver services to the level our customers expect.

All weekdays will follow Saturday timetables apart from a few exceptions:

  • All school services will follow normal weekday timetables from Thursday.
  • The Service 15 departures on Monday to Friday at 05:59 (from Westgate Street) and at 06:57 (from Windway Road) to the Heath Hospital, will continue to run.
  • Service 93 will run from Cardiff to the Murch via Penarth on Mondays to Fridays only, approximately every 90 minutes. Buses to the Murch will follow their normal route to Dinas Powys Infant School, then run along Cardiff Road, turning left into Murch at Cross Common Road.
  • Buses to Penarth and Cardiff will follow their normal route from Cross Common Road, Longmeadow Drive and Murch Post Office.
  • Some services will continue their normal weekday timetable such as Service 98, Service H59 Heath Hospital Park & Ride, Service H95 Llandough Hospital Park & Ride and Service M1.

It comes as Wales continues to see record rates of Covid cases. On Wednesday, Wales’ coronavirus infection rate soared to above 2,000 cases per 100,000 population – by far the most recorded since the start of the pandemic.

Cardiff bus would like to remind everyone face covering over your nose and mouth are to be worn for the duration of your journey (unless you are exempt), leaving windows open to increase ventilation, using forward facing seats only and no standing.
