Warning for Android and iPhone Users Ahead of New Phone Release
Experts warn of potential pitfalls as latest iPhone is set to be revealed this month. According to new data from Uswitch.com, a comparison and switching service, a significant cultural gap exists between iPhone and Android users:
- One in five iPhone users would not date someone with an Android phone, particularly higher among 18-34 age group at 32%.
- Only 10% of Android users have reservations about dating iPhone owners.
- One in six smartphone users believe in stereotypes about iPhone and Android users.
Common perceptions about iPhone user include being trend-led by 236%, more fashionable by 228%, and more social media obsessed by 81%. They are also seen as 90% more likely to cancel plans with family or friends. On the other hand, Android users are viewed as valuing practicality over style, being eco-conscious, and generous in buying drinks.
As per Simrat Sharma, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, when it comes to loyalty towards a brand like Apple or Android, it often stems from perception or habit rather than personal needs. Sharma emphasizes the importance of exploring a wider market to discover a device best suited for individual requirements at an optimal cost. Transitioning from an existing handset contract to a new one may yield potential savings of up to £84 annually, making it worthwhile to assess different available deals.
Sharma states, “Mobile users may be missing a trick if they don’t explore the wider market to find the device with the best features for them at the best value for money. Those who value a seamless experience between devices and already own other Apple tech may find an iPhone most useful, while those who aren’t loyal to one brand will find a wealth of options with Android devices, often at lower prices than Apple.”
