Family of 27-year-old Shaun Thomas, a senior aircraftman from Llwydcoed in Aberdare, has invited the community to pay their respects by lining the streets in honour of Shaun following a tragic collision that claimed his life. Shaun, described as “smart and generous” by his loved ones, passed away on Thursday, August 8, after being struck by a vehicle near RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire.
The incident occurred when Cambridgeshire Constabulary received reports of a man walking along the central reservation of the road near RAF Wittering. Shortly thereafter, Shaun was involved in the collision and was pronounced dead by emergency services just before 12.30 am. Shaun’s family remembered him fondly as a vibrant individual who cherished travelling, cooking, and his passion for football, particularly his love for Manchester United.
In a heartfelt tribute, Shaun’s family expressed how he brought joy and laughter to those around him, known as the “class clown” or as “another Jim Carrey”. Describing him as irreplaceable, the family shared their profound loss and highlighted Shaun’s significant role as a partner, son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin.
The family has urged members of the community to gather along Merthyr Road near AFC Llwydcoed football club on Thursday, September 12, at approximately 11.20 am to pay their respects during Shaun’s funeral procession. The family expressed their deep gratitude for the outpouring of support and shared the impact Shaun had on everyone he knew as a cherished and cherished individual.
Shaun’s legacy, filled with laughter and love, will be honoured by the community coming together to remember a life taken too soon.
