Children rushed to hospital following ‘chlorine leak’ at leisure centre

Nine children and two adults have been rushed to the hospital following a chlorine leak at a leisure centre in Vale Farm, Sudbury. The incident occurred today (August 29) in Wembley, north-west London, leading to a swift response from police, firefighters, and paramedics at around 1.40pm. The Everyone Active Sports Centre was cordoned off by police, and the area was evacuated as a precaution.

A spokesperson for the Met Police reported, “Police were called at 13:40hrs on Thursday, 29 August to reports of a chlorine leak at a pool in Watford Road, Wembley. Officers, the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade are in attendance. The leisure centre has been evacuated as a precaution and road closures are in place.” The London Ambulance Service also confirmed their involvement, stating, “We were called at 1.34pm today to reports of a chlorine leak. We treated nine children and two adults at the scene before taking them all to the hospital.”
