Loose Women star health update explains how she knew ‘cancer had spread’

Loose Women star Linda Nolan has spoken out about her health struggles in a recent interview, detailing the signs that indicated her cancer had spread. The 65-year-old singer shared her devastation upon receiving this news after a positive update earlier in the year that some of her brain tumours had shrunk. Linda expressed concerns about her worsening balance and memory, stating that her sisters had to prompt her during conversations. During a visit to her consultant with her sister Maureen and Macmillan Cancer support nurse, Linda could sense the news before it was confirmed. She immediately asked about the spread of the cancer and the next steps for treatment.

In addition to cognitive challenges, Linda faces the possibility of losing her hair for the fifth time as she embarks on a new drug treatment, Enhertu, not readily available on the NHS for her type of secondary breast cancer. She recalled her emotional reaction upon learning about the tumour growth and new cancer spots, describing her immediate response as tears welled up. Linda’s journey with cancer began in 2005 with a stage three breast cancer diagnosis, which resurfaced as secondary breast cancer in 2017, spreading to various parts of her body. Her sister Bernie tragically succumbed to breast cancer in 2013, following a similar progression.

Speaking candidly about her experiences, Linda emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention for symptoms such as breast lumps, changes in breast size or shape, nipple discharge, armpit lumps, skin dimpling, nipple rash, or nipple appearance changes, as these could be indicators of breast cancer. While coping with ongoing treatments and emotional challenges, Linda remains resilient and determined not to let cancer consume her spirit. She has shared her journey openly to support others facing similar battles with the disease.

Linda’s story serves as a reminder of the impact of cancer on individuals and families, highlighting the importance of early detection and continuous support throughout the treatment process. Despite the hardships she has faced, Linda’s resilience and openness provide a source of inspiration for those navigating their own cancer journeys.
