In the lead-up to the highly-awaited Gavin & Stacey Christmas special scheduled for this December, fans have been eagerly anticipating the start of filming. With just four months to go, followers of the show have spotted upcoming road closures planned across Barry and Dinas Powys, including familiar filming locations.
The road closures are set to take place in three streets across the Vale of Glamorgan next month, although the notices have not specified the nature of the filming. Each location will experience closures at varying times of the day, some continuing into the early hours of the morning.
One of the famous filming locations, Laburnum Way in Dinas Powys, where the Shipman family home is situated in the series despite being set in Essex, will be closed for over a week. This extended filming period hints at the possibility of numerous family scenes from ‘Essex’ being shot there.
While there is no official confirmation that these closures are related to Gavin and Stacey filming, the proximity to the Christmas Special’s release has left fans speculating. The closures include Hood Road in Barry from 6pm on Monday, September 23, Weycock Road on Old Five Mile Lane in Barry from 7:30 am on Wednesday, September 11, and Laburnum Way in Dinas Powys from 8am on Friday, September 25.
As excitement builds for the return of Gavin & Stacey, viewers are left to wonder what new adventures await the beloved characters in the upcoming Christmas special.
