Eight Welsh Pubs Honoured Among the Best in the Country
Welsh pubs are in the spotlight as 24 watering holes from across Wales have been shortlisted for the 2025 National Pub & Bar Awards. Organised by Pub & Bar magazine, these awards celebrate the finest venues in the UK, with the winners set to be revealed at a ceremony in London on June 24. In total, 94 establishments from around the UK will be recognised, including eight exceptional pubs from different regions in Wales.
The selected pubs have earned their spot on the shortlist for various reasons, such as exceptional marketing strategies, strong digital presence, innovative design, top-notch service, unique offerings, and significant investments in their establishments. This recognition not only honours the pubs themselves but also highlights the important role they play in their communities.

Clwyd: Mold Alehouse, The Griffin, The Lighthouse Inn
Dyfed: The Golden Lion, The Stackpole Inn, White Hart Thatched Inn & Brewery
Gwent: The Black Bear Inn, The Clytha Arms, The Duffryn Arms
Gwynedd: The Bull’s Head Inn, The Fairy Falls Hotel, Yr Eagles
Mid Glamorgan: The Golden Mile, The Old House 1147, The Rock Inn
Powys: The Checkers, The Nags Head Inn, The Sun Hotel
South Glamorgan: Blue Anchor Inn, Bonnie Rogues Pub, Hare & Hounds
West Glamorgan: Bonnie Rogues Pub, Britannia Inn, Pontardawe Inn
The editor of Pub & Bar magazine, Tristan O’Hana, emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating the efforts of these establishments, especially in the current challenging environment for the hospitality industry. According to O’Hana, the awards aim to showcase the excellence and value of pubs and bars in society, acknowledging their contributions to the cultural fabric of the UK.
The upcoming awards ceremony will be a momentous occasion where all 256 nominees, including the Welsh pubs, will come together to celebrate their achievements. In addition to recognising individual pubs, the event will also present awards for pub group of the year, bar group of the year, and The Tyrrells Tyrrellbly good taste award.
