Describing the incident as one of the worst that could befall someone in his profession, 27-year-old Lamorte shared that his van parked on his driveway was broken into using keyless entry just after midnight on Friday, April 11. The thieves made off with valuable equipment, leaving Lamorte grappling with the aftermath of the loss.

“In situations like this, the impact goes beyond just the monetary value of the tools. They are essential for my work, and their theft has severe repercussions on my ability to earn a living,” Lamorte lamented. He highlighted the ripple effect such crimes can have on self-employed individuals, potentially jeopardizing their livelihoods.

While Lamorte acknowledged his fortune in being able to borrow tools from colleagues temporarily, the burden of replacing the stolen equipment looms large. “I will likely have to bear the cost of replacing these tools out of my own pocket, which is a financial strain I had not anticipated. Additionally, the theft means I will suffer a loss of income,” he shared.

In a heartfelt plea, Lamorte urged the perpetrators to consider the repercussions of their actions on the lives of those they target. “The consequences extend far beyond the immediate theft; they leave behind a trail of devastation, rendering individuals without a means to support themselves and their families,” he expressed.

Gwent Police have launched an investigation into the break-in, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
