A man identified as Jack Hitchings, aged 32, was recently found guilty of committing two counts of assault by beating and perverting the course of justice following a trial. The incident unfolded as Hitchings bit his partner on the arm and later offered her friend a sum of £500 to convince her to withdraw her complaint made to the police. The court proceedings detailed how Hitchings initiated contact with his partner while she was out wine tasting with a friend. He requested a £220 bank transfer to indulge in a casino visit. Concerned he would take money from her property, she complied. Upon her return home, an argument ensued with Hitchings, who was still present after his car had been blocked in by hers. The situation escalated, leading to the assault on the victim.
During the altercation, Hitchings proceeded to bite his partner on the arm. Subsequently, when the victim’s friend intervened, Hitchings forcefully pushed her to the ground, causing her to hit her head. Following the incident, Hitchings vacated the premises, prompting the victims to contact the authorities. In a turn of events, Hitchings later reached out to the friend, apologising for his actions and offering her a sum of £500 to dissuade her from formalizing her complaint to the police—despite the friend not having lodged a formal complaint at that stage. However, she eventually proceeded to report the incident.
Hitchings, residing in Coed Y Ffynon, Dinas Powys, was apprehended at a casino location and maintained his innocence against the allegations. Nevertheless, the court ruling found him guilty of the charges brought against him. Notably, Hitchings possesses a history of six previous convictions, underscoring his past encounters with the law.
