A man named Timothy Taylor, aged 32, found himself in a high-speed chase with the police after burgling a house in Dewstow, Monmouthshire. The incident occurred on December 1, 2023, when Taylor stole £300 in cash from a home where the owners had left for the evening, only to return to a shattered glass panel and missing money. The pursuit began when a police officer spotted Taylor driving recklessly in a stolen red Ford Fiesta through Crosskeys, Caerphilly. Despite attempts to stop him, Taylor evaded the police twice as he sped towards Risca. Once officers lost sight of him momentarily, Taylor was then spotted driving on the wrong side of the carriageway towards Abercarn. These dangerous manoeuvres prompted the deployment of a police helicopter to track Taylor’s movements from above.
The pursuit escalated as stinger devices were unsuccessfully deployed twice in an effort to stop Taylor. Eventually, the chase came to an end when Taylor pulled into the Tesco Extra store in Risca, where he was finally detained and arrested by the authorities. Upon being searched, Taylor was found in possession of a Kinder egg containing three wraps of cocaine. This discovery led to Taylor facing charges for burglary, dangerous driving, handling stolen goods, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, and possession of Class A drugs. Taylor’s criminal record revealed 22 previous convictions, including various offences related to burglary and dangerous driving.
