Police in Newport, Wales, are urgently seeking information on the whereabouts of missing 30-year-old man, Marcus Barter, who has been missing for over three weeks. Marcus was last seen near Coed y Caerau Lane on Thursday, August 1. His family has made a heartfelt plea for any information that may help locate him.
Authorities are particularly interested in identifying two cyclists who were spotted on the road on the day of Marcus’ disappearance. The first cyclist was seen at around 3.05pm, while the second one was captured on CCTV cycling at approximately 6.20pm. In addition to the cyclists, police are also trying to identify the driver of a white van that was spotted on CCTV around 2.20pm on the same day.
Detective Chief Inspector David Morris, who is leading the investigation, emphasised the importance of finding Marcus and urged anyone with potential information to come forward. Various search methods have been deployed, including specialist search teams, drones, and the police helicopter, to cover a significant area near Marcus’ last known sighting.
Police are appealing to motorists who were in the vicinity of Coed y Caerau Lane on the same day and around the same time as Marcus’ disappearance. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dashcam footage or information that could assist in the investigation. Marcus is described as six feet tall, of large build, with dark brown hair shaved at the back and sides, longer on top, and was last seen wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt, and sliders.
Individuals who might have encountered Marcus, the cyclists, or the white van on August 1 between 1.30pm and 4.30pm are encouraged to contact South Wales Police by calling 101 or sending a direct message on social media, quoting log number 2400258746. The police department urges anyone with relevant information to assist in the search for Marcus, offering hope for his safe return.
